The children and young people helped me lead All Age Worship at St Gabriel’s on 25 May, writes Cathie Smith.
It was a really great service where we baked bread throughout which everyone enjoyed at the end. A group of young leaders (plus some adults) help regularly and one of them, Kenisha Walker, contributed this prayer taken from ideas given by the children and from a book. I thought it would be nice to include it in the magazine.
Children’s Prayer
Lord, we dream always for a peaceful world.
Make no room whatsoever for the slightest thoughts of sickness.
God, please replace the negative thoughts and feelings in our mind and hearts.
Make us be happy.
God give us light, goodness, love, kindness, hope and determination
Since life is the antidote of death
Affirm life and ignore death.
We pray to let our community last long and become the community of peace.
Please forgive us and help us live as you want us to.
We close our eyes for you today thanking you, knowing that you’re there every morning as we wake up.
Thank you Father in heaven who has given us a body to serve you and others,
A consciousness never to be empty.
God we pray that there be peace on earth and let it begin with us.
Amen
