MAKE IT fun and involve the whole family, is one of the tips Christian Aid representative, Elizabeth Perry, offers volunteers on the house-to-house collection trail during Christian Aid Week, 11 to 17 May.
And she’s as good as her word as she enlists the help of her dog Poppy and a friendly duck in the charity effort.
Elizabeth’s other tips for collectors include: go as a group to share the sense of achievement and encourage each other; remember how what you are doing changes lives and is a wonderful witness.
“Why not volunteer with a friend to spread the load and keep each other company?” echoes Steph Mawhinney St Mary’s . “Previous volunteers and new, please let me know if you can help raise money for the world’s poor this Christian Aid Week by posting envelopes through doors then calling back to collect them.”
During the week 300,000 people from 22,000 churches take part in the UK’s biggest house-to-house collection. Last year, our local collection raised £1,300.
“Poverty is unacceptable and God’s love for the poor and marginalised demands we put our faith into action,” said Elizabeth. ”I hope volunteers enjoy being part of this seven amazing days of fundraising, campaigning and worship. I say a huge thank you to all of you.”
